State Rep. Doug Wozniak on Wednesday congratulated Congressman John James following a press conference where it was announced the Congressman had secured a $1.5 million federal earmark for facility expansion and site improvements at the Shelby Township Senior Activity Center. Wozniak, a former Shelby Township Trustee, has been a strong advocate for the center throughout his time in elected office.
“It’s a good day when government can join hands with a community to invest in a project that matters,” said Wozniak, R-Shelby Township. “Shelby Township continues to grow, so our community center needs to grow right along with it. These enhancements have been carefully planned, and funding for them in the works, for several years. I couldn’t be happier that all the township’s hard work looks to be coming to fruition.”
The federal earmark will fund a gymnasium addition, accommodate heightened interest in the center, and allow more space for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and other indoor and outdoor recreation activities, as well as additional parking.
